How do I open my own restaurant? What would be a good website to find out steps I need to take?

I would like to open a barbq/seafood and bar grill restaurant…there is nothing like that where I live. What do I need to do, who do I need to talk to, etc.

Did you know that restaurants are the most likely to fail of all small businesses? Have you worked in a restaurant? Do you have money you can invest?

If you don’t have a lot of restaurant experience, you should get some before you go much further. Get a job in a restaurant. Work your way up to manager. If you can, go to a junior college and take commercial cooking, “hospitality” and restaurant/hotel management classes. It’s a two year degree at many junior colleges, or community colleges.

Anyone can open a restaurant. You only need money Enough money to rent a place, get the equipment, get permits and licenses, purchase food, and hire staff. If you want someone else to invest you’ll need to show a strong restaurant background, like having managed a successful restaurant.

Not trying to ruin your dreams, but being practical. I have a nephew who is a chef and owner of a small cafe. I’ve watched what he went through. Good luck.
