Help with grilling Porterhouse steaks please?
Two steaks that are about an inch think on a charcoal grill – any help on when to put them on the grill (as far as the temp of the coals) and then for how long – Thanks!
After the flames have died down and the coals are turning white, spread the coals out in an even layer. Then throw the steaks on. For 1″, cook 5mins each side for medium-rare. 6mins each side for medium. 7minutes each side for medium-well. OH….and be sure to let the steaks come to room temp before putting them on the grill. That’s really important. (Leave them out on the counter for about 1/2 hour to do that) Once cooked, let the steaks sit at least 5 minutes on a plate before you cut into them so that the juices can distribute into the meat. Don’t go cutting into the steak to check for done-ness. This will cause all the juices to spill out and you’ll lose the flavor, moistness and tenderness of the meat.
