How I can make soft ice cream in my ice cream maker.?

I have a machine that produces ice cream mixture and freeze it but if I keep my recipes with vanilla ice cream is still hard as iron, what I can add ingredients so it's soft scoop the commercial variety, suggestions? Thanks
