Why did sony use matte grey cheap print for the ps3 logo and disc area?

why cant they just keep the shiny mirror plastic and not crap out on the front logo by pustting cool plastic and not just a paint on.

The reason for the grey print and disk area was to cut production costs.

And the reason for the removal of the ventilation grills was because the newer models(40GB and newer) use a new cooling system and they aren’t needed.

Oh, and to correct the guy above me, ALL the new models do NOT have chrome, even the $500 160GB, what he said was true when the 40GB was out but not anymore
