What’s the best way to stop nosey neighbors? I have neighbors who live across the street and and they are?
always calling me when I have company over, wanting to know who’s at my place..They call me when I leave my porch light on.., to let me know that the mail came..etc…I envited them over once, to be nice, and I got grilled about everything in my life thats personal and not to mention, the wife told me that I decorated my house wrong! The nerve!! I Do not live in a gated communty where everything has to be a “certain way”..Just a normal average street..The only thing I can think of, is that it’s an older neighborhood and most have lived here for ages…including the nosey neighbors..something like 26 yrs..And I have been here less than 1 yr.
I like my house and don’t want to leave, but what are my options?
First of all i wouldn’t invite them over again!!!
Next i would begin to be more private!
Don’t take there annoying calls, get a caller Id and don’t take the calls, set boundaries , don’t be shy to politely tell them when they ask you personal things , that’s PERSONAL, and i don’t feel comfortable discussing it with you! If they want to stop you to chat(and grill) just say ” i would love to talk but i’m really busy right now”!!
If they call about the mail , Say I’m aware the mail is here!
Just be a bit more blunt, they may be well meaning , but seems to me they are more gossipy and your probably what’s keeping them busy since they probably already know everyone Else’s news. If they ask who is at your place , Never answer that question in detail , they shouldn’t even ask, Just say Guests! If they ask again simply say you feel they are being intrusive. change your phone number and don’t give them the new one if worse comes to worse.
