Does anybody know, what can be broken on my Micowave/convection oven?

I have a GE profile JVM1090, that I had bought,in 96. Can anybody tell me what to check? The lights work. The numbers will count down, as if it’s going, but it doesn’t start up. My husband said he saw a flash on the inside grid. Do you think it’s hard to fix or would it be a big expense? Like I said, it’s almost 12yrs. old.

‘Flashes’ can be a signal to buy a more modern, powerful unit
for less than repair costs.
