When I grill meat on my propane bbq, the outside of it turns red instead of brown. Why?
Ive been afraid to eat it for fear that its some kind of bad stuff going on with the propane or something.

Well lets see here, first off the are some factors that could be contributing to the redness.
1) What kind of meat are you cooking?
If you are eating lamb it tends to turn a red colour even though it is cooked through
2)Another thing you might be seeing is as the steak is cooking the muscle contracts forcing the juices out (as this begins this is usually time to flip the steak (if it is a steak) as it will be medium rare at that point.
3)You are messing with the meat too much while it is cooking. If you flip it more than once cool your jets and let the barbecue do its thing. With poultry and skewers and things you may have to turn them a few times to stop them from burning but if it is a cut of meat you need to let it sear initially
3)What temperature are you starting the cooking process at:
The trick to getting good grillmarks on your bbq’d food without burning is to pre heat the grill and get it good and hot.
The propane doesn’t take that long to get the heat going but make sure you have that baby cranked before you put the product on the grill.
start the burner
turn up to high
close lid for 5 – 7 minutes
lift lid place meat on the grill
turn down burners to medium (this will depend on the grill but you know best how your bbq temps)
You should hear a nice sizzle when you put the meat on
about 3 minutes in do not flip but turn the meat 90degrees from its original position to get the x marks. These times will depend on how thick the cut of meat is. Once you start to see the juices coming out the top its time to flip over
Once flipped cook to desired doneness usually another 3 -4 minutes for medium
