A&W Root Beer Floats Ice Cream vs. Soft Serve?
Its commonly misquoted as “ice cream” but it is soft serve. I personally hate it when places use the phrase “ice cream cone” only to get a soft serve cone. The only restaurant that I know to live up to “real Ice Cream Shakes” is Carls Junior. Ice Cream is served with a scoop and the use of your wrist. Soft serve is mixed by machines that release the product upon the pull of a handle. I was watching the Food Network this evening and was quite baffled to see Marc Summers describing A&W Root Beet floats made with A&W Root Beer and Ice Cream only to see the “ice cream” being soft serve. What Gives?
Ice cream and soft serve are the same thing, the only difference is the temperature of each. Ice cream, the kind your refering to, is really cold so that it takes longer to melt. Soft serve is just a bit warmer and is like that so that it is not as hard to eat or too cold for your tongue. So chill dude its just soft serve.
